It is no more news that the Monaco defensive midfielder is attracted by the chance to play at full-back at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho steps up United’s interest on him.
Fábio Henrique Tavares (born October 23, 1993) and commonly (or popularly) known as Fabinho, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a right back or as a defensive midfielder for French Ligue 1 principality club, Monaco, and the Brazil national team
There are reports that the Monaco star is keen to join Manchester United this summer and an agreement is edging closer and closer.
Regarding Manchester United’s interest on him, and speaking to Esporte Interativo, Fabinho said on Friday:
“It’s a tempting invitation. I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right. But it’s a great club, sure enough I would think well about it.”
Fabinho, who has played over 180 games for Monaco, scoring 23 goals, is valued at around €45 million, and sources have confirmed that the transfer could be sealed with United in the coming days, or so.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, and according to reports, the 23-year-old Brazilian footballer has been given assurances by Mourinho that he would be played in a full-back role, something that appeals to the Brazil international. Fabinho is desperate to increase his chances of making Tite’s Brazilian national team squad for the 2018 World Cup, having been mostly sidelined.

There are reports that our noisy neighbors, Manchester City, have also been linked with a bid for Fabinho, but it appears a move to Manchester United is of more appeal to the Brazilian defensive midfielder – thank God for that!
Fabinho described the prospect of joining Manchester United as a “tempting invitation”
United are looking to bolster their squad after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League football in Europe’s top table by winning the UEFA Europa League last season and Fabinho is said to feature on Mourinho’s list of transfer targets. Fabinho, who transitioned to centre midfield from right-back, is open to the idea of a move to Old Trafford.
Any confirmed transfer of Fabinho in the coming days would represent United’s second signing of the summer, with Victor Lindelof having already transferred to Old Trafford from Benfica.
It is trite news that Jose Mourinho will be able to attract star-players and huge and/or high-earning players to Manchester United in the transfer market. This is obviously because of United’s financial might (the richest football club in the world), along with United’s return to UEFA Champions League, and a viable place in Europe’s top club competition adding to Manchester United’s appeal.
Up Man U!
