There are credible transfer news reports that James Rodriguez will join Manchester United this summer but there is a catch! The catch is If, and only if United fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League . . .
Spanish outlet Don Balon reports that there are claims that suggested that the Real Madrid forward has a pre-contract agreement with Old Trafford. The Don Balon report says that the captain of Colombia will reportedly not arrive at Old Trafford unless United qualify for the UEFA Champions League via winning the UEFA Europa League – probably the last chance Jose Mourinho’s men have of getting to the UEFA Champions League.
James, 25, has fallen way down the pecking order at Real Madrid and it is believed Zinedine Zidane will allow him to leave Real Madrid this summer as Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata are his top men up front. James is most likely to go up the pecking order at United and it is most certain that Mourinho (who believes James is in his prime) will need him up front in the wake of dwindling consistent forward materials at United going forward.
Where would James fit in at Manchester United? Joe Prince-Wright of NBC Sports believes that James Rodriguez:
“. . . will be the perfect fit either centrally or out wide in a pacey attack alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata creating behind a fluid front three, as his clinical finishing saw him flourish at Porto, Monaco and become a star for Colombia during the 2014 World Cup.
If Jose Mourinho can rekindle James’ form from 2014, United could have one of the missing pieces of the jigsaw to replace the goals lost by Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has almost certainly played his final game for the Red Devils after suffering a horrendous ACL injury to end his 2016-17 campaign . . .”

Jorge Mendes is James Rodriguez’s agent and Jose Mourinho knows him very well. There will be synergy if there would be a link up with his other client, Jose Mourinho, which would certainly be an easy deal for everyone concerned – James, Mendes, Mourinho, Zidane, et al.

James will most likely thrive at United since it is increasingly becoming possible that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with his latest ACL injury sidelining him, and who has almost certainly played his final game for United this season, and to the end of his 2016-17 United campaign.
Again, captain Wayne Rooney is on his final lap of a spiraling downward trend in performance occasioned by either football old age, overspent prime and severe competition from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial up front.
I think we need James up front to fill the void up front most likely to be left by Zlatan’s inevitable exit from Old Trafford . . .
Up Man U!
