Mourinho Chastised Pogba To Focus On The Pitch
Manchester United boss José Mourinho has ordered Paul Pogba to concentrate on his Old Trafford career and curb his commercial efforts, according to reports.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who moved to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer for £89 million ($111 million), has extensive sponsorship deals, including Adidas.
In January, during United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, dozens of cartoon images of Pogba were seen around the Old Trafford pitch as he released an emoji, which has since been printed on his football boots. Pogba was criticized bu United fans and supporters for his poor performance that day.
According to The Mirror, Mourinho was disgruntled by his star signing’s branding efforts and has told him to cut down on commercial activities.
Mourinho is focused on making a charge for the top-four in the Premier League this season, and sees Pogba as a key figure in his squad.
He will, however, be without the Frenchman when United hosts West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday as he is recovering from a hamstring injury.
United is fifth in the table and four points off fourth-place Liverpool.
Mourinho’s Injury Woes
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera for their Premier League clash against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
Defenders Jones and Smalling both suffered knocks while on international duty with England, while Pogba sat out of the international break altogether after picking up a hamstring injury during the Red Devils’ Europa League victory over Rostov earlier this month.
Ibrahimovic and Herrera, who have been incredibly influential for Manchester United this season, are both serving the final portion of their three and two-match suspensions respectively.

I couldn’t say a proper goodbye to United – Schweinsteiger
Bastian Schweinsteiger regrets the way he had to leave Manchester United suddenly without a proper farewell but insists he is 100% focused on his Chicago Fire challenge.
United only officially confirmed the move on Wednesday ahead of the midfielder’s unveiling in his new home city.
And Schweinsteiger (photo below: after scoring for United) trained in Spain this week while waiting for his work visa to be processed.
“It was not so easy because the decision was a bit late so I couldn’t say a proper goodbye to the team,” he said of his sudden departure from Old Trafford.
“Also they had a match away…. so I couldn’t really tell them because I didn’t want the focus on me, but on the team.
“I had a great time there, especially with the team-mates and the staff there.”
What a rush!
Up Man U!
