Manchester United Swedish star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic (a.k.a. Ibra) has been voted the Professional Footballers Association Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month for December, 2016.
The ageless 35-year-old beat Liverpool’s Adam Lallana, Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Tottenham’s Dele Alli among others to the coveted monthly footballing award in England.
According to reports, nearly 64,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the Sky Sports website and apps, with Ibrahimovic claiming victory with a whopping 24,092 votes.
Lallana came second with 17,935 votes, while Azpilicueta was third with 11,944 votes.
Tottenham Hot Spur’s Dele Alli got 5,863 votes, Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford 2,874 and West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet 1,264.
Ibrahimovic scored five league games in December as Manchester United went on a six-match winning streak.
Ibra is a star striker and he is destined to befuddle and confound many more defenders, score more goals and garner more football accolades as United proceed with the displacement of one or two of the occupiers of the top four slots on the Premier League table . . .
Up Man U!
