David De Gea May Stay In United

Reports indicate Real Madrid are yet to make contact with Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea or his agent Jorge Mendes regarding a possible move this summer. That’s according to Manu Sainz of Spanish newspaper AS which reports that as a result, the Spaniard “doubts Real Madrid will activate his €50 million (£40 million) buyout clause before it expires this month.”

That proved crucial for United, which tied him down on a new contract, and De Gea played a vital role in the Red Devils boasting the joint-best defence in the Barclay Premier League this season. Will De Gea stay back at Old Trafford? I hope so!

Michael Carrick Deal With United Expected

Manchester United ace midfielder Michael Carrick is reportedly closing in on an Old Trafford extension after A-League outfit Perth Glory confirmed they’ve been beaten out of the hunt to sign the playmaker. Glory chief executive Peter Filopoulos told FourFourTwo’s Ben Somerford of the Australian club’s failed attempt to make a move for the Red Devils veteran, who was seemingly set to become a free agent this summer:

It was a long shot opportunity due to Richard Garcia’s relationship with Michael.  Perth was an option for Michael Carrick as he was going through what he was going to do in his career had he not landed a new signature with Manchester United. I’m cool with that!

Eric Bailly in Talks with United: Report

Manchester United and Villarreal have reportedly agreed to a transfer fee for star defender Eric Bailly, and the Red Devils will now enter talks with the Ivorian on personal terms.  That’s according to Spanish daily AS (h/t Daily Express’ Uche Amako), which claims United will pay a fee “close to” his £31.3 million buyout clause. Bailly played a key role in Villarreal’s unexpected run to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals during the 2015-16 campaign and established himself as a rising defensive star. I don’t know much about Eric but from his dossier he looks formidable. United should bring him on board!

Up Man U!
