Rooney caps 100th goal: Liverpool 0 Manchester United 1

Captain Wayne Rooney netted Manchester United’s winner at Anfield today and the Red Devil’s 100th goal against Liverpool. The Red Devils won against Liverpool at Anfield as Louis van Gaal’s men claimed a famous late victory over the Merseysiders.

Rooney continued his return to form at Anfield on Sunday, striking 12 minutes from finishing time to earn Manchester United a 1-0 win against fierce rivals Liverpool.

The Red Devil’s captain reacted quickly on time when Marouane Fellaini’s goal-bound header towards goalie, Mignolet, rattled the crossbar and Ricocheted towards his direction – ensuring United a fourth consecutive victory over Liverpool.

Van Gaal kept faith with the starting XI unchanged from Tuesday’s draw on Tyneside. The same players that played out a 3-3 draw against Newcastle four days earlier persevered against a much better Liverpool side, with the only change to the matchday squad being Guillermo Varela replacing James Weir on the bench.

Man U . Liverpool v Man United

The Red Devil’s captain Rooney (a.k.a. Waza) has made my day, again. The aging England international and most famous English footballer today, seems to have a knack to come in after many poor field plays to surprise pundits.

I hope ‘Waza’ continues to surprise me till the end of this most trying and tiring Barclays Premier League season.

I must admit that the first half was nerve-racking for me. The Red Devils were outplayed by a more determined Merseyside eager to up one against their visitors before the half time closing time.

I was relieved when the referee blew the whistle to close the half time field play. I knew that the flying Dutchman will talk to his boys to up the ante for a more determined attacking football.

Just before the half time whistle, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson replaced the injured Ashley Young. I must admit that just before the break, Liverpool finished the first half on top.

See what I mean, below:

I’m cool with this victory over Liverpool in our derby encounter at Anfield.

Manchester United had captain Wayne Rooney to thank for their second win of the season over Liverpool.

We’re still no 5 and counting – but it’s not over until it’s over.
