Even with the rumors of his ‘impending forced exit’ from Old Trafford, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal (LVG) may still be eyeing some players to soup-up the team. Despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars on transfers Man United has struggled this season – and this has brought criticisms and generated rumors of Van Gaal’s sack – even as Jose Mourinho is hovering in the shadows around Old Trafford after his sack by Chelsea.
Now, LVG may be ready to write another massive check to bring more talent to Old Trafford
The Daily Star is reporting that United could pay close to $90 million to bring Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez to Manchester United. The Colombian international moved to Real from Monaco for a similar price in the summer of 2014, but tensions with new manager Rafa Benitez have some believing the midfielder could be open to a move. James has been linked with a possible move to Chelsea this summer, although United could try to swoop in and steal the deal in January.
James is a traditional no 10 shirted midfield striker. Whither Man Utd. and England skipper, Wayne Rooney, if indeed James pops up at Old Trafford? Rooney is also a traditional no 10 shirted player for Man Utd. and also for England. How Van Gaal will manage the two prominent no 10 shirted midfield strikers, Rooney and James, remains to be seen.
This might be just another rumor from the British press’ football rumor mills. As a Man United fan and supporter, I’ll welcome James to Old Trafford any day – and leave how to manage their placements on match days to Van Gaal.
Up Man U!
